Nikolay Fechin: 130th Birthday Anniversary

Nikolay Fechin (1881-1955) – Russian-American portrait painter, a virtuoso master. He has his own distinctive approach to landscapes and still lifes. He is both the most prominent member of the Kazan Art School as well as perceived as an American painter by many in the US. Nikolay Fechin was educated in Kazan and Imperial Academy of Arts in St Petersburg. In 1923, Fechin emigrated to the US, first settling in New York and then moving to Taos, New Mexico. He died in 1955 in the United States.
