The Art Newspaper Russia: Russian art to adorn French wine labels

The Art Russe Foundation has signed an agreement with Laurent Prosperi, who manages Chateau La Grace Dieu des Prieurs in Saint-Émilion, one of the oldest wine growing regions in France. The French winemaker will now be able to use 12 works of 19th- and 20th-century Russian art from the Art Russe collection as decorations on its wine labels. The works include Sadko in the Underwater Kingdom by Ilya Repin, Comrades by Filipp Malyavin and Low Marks Again by Fyodor Reshetnikov. Paintings by Vladimir Serov and Nicolai Fechin will also be included in the product’s design. According to the Foundation’s director, Rena Laveri, “the creation of a blend of unique wines is without a doubt an art form in its own right. It is art. We at Art Russe see this as an opportunity to reach a wider audience and introduce more people to these works of Russian art in a new format.”
